Supporting the Lullaby Trust: Alexanders Ball 2014!

Anyone who knows me will know that the Lullaby Trust charity is close to my heart, since meeting Jennie and learning of the very sad death of her daughter Matilda Mae from SIDS. In June last year nine of us jumped out a plane to raise money for the Lullaby Trust and in August we are doing it again! We are aiming to raise the much needed funds that they need in order to make the research that will hopefully give answers as to why SIDS occurs and provide the needed support for parents too.

In February 2007 Nicola and Ian Richardson’s lives changed forever, their son Alexander aged just 17 months dies suddenly from SIDS too. He was a healthy and very happy toddler who so sadly went to bed and never woke up. It absolutely breaks my heart to hear of all the heartache that SIDS brings to Families, no one should have to go through the pain of losing their baby.

In 2011 The Richardson’s held their first charity ball in memory of Alexander and since then it has become an annual event. This year’s ball will be held on the 15th February at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. Tickets are £50 each and include a three course dinner, live entertainment and of course, dancing!

Nicola says, ‘2013 has been our most successful event to date smashing our target amount of £15,000 we actually made £16219 overall and there is still money to come in through Pound for Pound schemes. This is a phenomenal amount and means that Alexander’s Charity Ball alone has been able to contribute over £36,000 to The Lullaby Trust in 3 years’

The Richardsons have done amazingly well in both raising money for the Lullaby Trust and also promoting awareness of SIDS. So, in order to support that, Dave and I are attending the ball. We simply cannot wait to glam up and have an evening out to ourselves! I do however still need to find a dress…

There is a ‘Glitz and Glam raffle’ and it is open to anyone who would like to buy a ticket at a cost of £1 each and this will be drawn on Alexander’s 7th anniversary, Sunday 9th February 2014. If you are able to support this great cause an would like to purchase any raffle tickets please visit the ball’s Facebook page or contact the website there are some amazing prizes so please do have a look, we’d love your support! Watch this space for photos and a blog about the event!
