On the 20th July 2013 at 0830am I am going to throw myself out of a plane, and skydive at Hinton Skydiving Centre, near Oxford. It will be a tandem jump from at least 10,000 feet. GAH!
The Skydive you will see is named, ‘Team Matilda Mae Skydive’
This is because my amazing blogging friend Jennie tragically lost her daughter, Matilda Mae to SIDS just nine weeks ago.
You can read Matilda’s story here
Jennie has shown such incredible strength through the most horrendous and what continue to be painful of weeks. She has also, very selflessly made a vow to make Matilda’s life matter. To make a difference, so that no one else has to go through the pain that her Family have, in losing their precious baby, Matilda Mae.
So I am going to help Jennie do just that.
So I’ve joined Team Matilda Mae.
We are a group of fellow Mummy bloggers/friends of Jennie and we’re doing the skydive in order to raise much needed funds for ‘The Lullaby Trust’ (Formally FSID).
Team Matilda Mae are: Myself, Sussex Mummy, Ghost Writer Mummy, Confessions of a SAHM, Mum on the Brink, Simply Hayley, Hazel Kerwin, Vicx Gould and Julie Roo.
We also have Jennie Edspire, Mummy Barrow and Lucy Baked Potato Mummy as Ground Crew!
The Lullaby Trust provide specialist support for families bereaved through sudden infant death; support research and promote expert advice on safer baby sleep.
It is a Charity close to my heart. I simply cannot imagine what the Parents and Families bereaved through SIDS go through.
I hope that you can support me so we can raise as much as possible in order to help the Lullaby Trust half the amount of all Sudden Infant Deaths by 2015 through making further research and developing expert advice.
Here’s some interesting figures for you;
•£5 could pay for an information pack to raise awareness of our safe sleep messages among young parents.
•£14 could provide one hour of bereavement support from our trained telephone advisors.
•£110 could train A&E staff in how best to support families when a baby dies suddenly and unexpectedly
