Today was the day that our local Football team Bradford City played at Wembley in the Capital One Cup Final!
I am not a football fan, much more a football widow in fact! But today’s game was special to me, because it was special to my Family. My Dad, two older Brothers and now my Son and Daughter will be Bradford fans (?) so as a family we watched the game and kept everything crossed for a win. As a child I grew up waiting for my Dad and Brothers to return from the games on Saturdays- eagerly checking the results so to know what type of mood they would be in! I even went with them to a fair few matches, because I wanted to share their bond, but the ground was far too cold for me!
Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be today – Swansea were the better team, and deserved the Cup, but what did make me smile was the way the local Community got behind their team. Bradford took 40,000 supporters to Wembley today and all reports from the ground claim that Bradford supporters sung until the end. Their achievement to even get so far in a major tournament will be remembered forever and so, for my Children here is a photo of them enjoying the game at our friends house with their Daddy! (Who is in fact a Grimsby fan…*Codhead* but supported his local team for the day)!
